Isn’t it great when likeminded quilty friends find eachother?
Recently, I chatted all things fussy cutting with Ange Wilson of Gnome Angel, author of Fussy Cutters Club and host of the brand new Fussy Cutters Club Podcast!
While Angie and I have “known” each other on Instagram for years, this was the first time we actually spoke. You’d never know it, though! We had such a great time talking about fabric and fussy cutting, and there were many MANY laughs!
Give the podcast episode a listen while you’re sewing, then come back to see some of the quilts and blocks that I mentioned in our conversation.

My earliest steps into fussy cutting
A close-up of my first ever quilt: I made the blocks first (no fussy cutting, sorry mermaids!), and then decided I needed to fussy cut the low volume unicorns, lest I end up with 100% butts.

The practice cushion cover, made with mostly scraps from a buy-nothing group

My actual first finished quilt: the epic D&D baby quilt.

100 Days 100 Blocks 2018 AKA The Fussy Cutting Olympics
Some of the blocks that Ange and I talked about include Loose Lips Sink Ships (click here for the photo tutorial)

Time Slice

and Hunter’s Cross Hairs

You can see all 100 blocks over on Instagram under the hashtag #gbCitySampler
We also talked about using fussy cutting to add a little sparkle to critters, and avoiding that dead-eyed look, as seen in this otter pillow, based on Tartan Kiwi’s Otterly Adorable pattern. (Note: the bottom half of each block was self-drafted and is not part of the pattern.)

Fussy Fuel Block of the Month
Of course, we also talked about my workshop-supported Block of the Month program, called Fussy Fuel, where we’re learning the 4 Fussy Fundamentals.

Thanks for joining me and Ange in our mutual love of fussy cutting and fabric fun! I’m looking forward to future podcast episodes.
