I don’t believe that quilts have to be perfect to be beautiful. Each quilt is a story that you write, in fabric and thread. It’s a way to express what’s in your heart, and wrap it around the ones you love.
I do believe that there can be enormous satisfaction in mastering a skill, and I love teaching quilters to level up their piecing and quilting, so they can rock any quiltmaking challenge.
I’m happy to provide any of my workshops and lectures for your group online! In-person events will resume when it’s safe to gather.

Say YES to Y-Seams (half day – 3 hours)
Of all the piecing techniques that strike fear into the hearts of quilters, I think that Y-seams are the most misunderstood. Learn to LOVE this versatile technique by making an Intersectional mini quilt. You will learn:
- 3 ways to landmark where to stop your needle
- How to set up your sewing machine to make Y-seams easier
- How to spin your seam allowances to reduce bulk
Students should be comfortable with their sewing machines. By the end of class, they will have at least 1 row of blocks assembled and have all the skills needed to finish the quilt top!
Fussy Cut Like a Rocket Surgeon (full day – 6 hours)
Learn to make dazzling blocks using large scale prints with precision, genius level cutting and traditional machine stitching. You will learn:
- Proper preparation and pressing for perfect pattern matching
- Why pins are the enemy of precision
- When a quarter inch seam allowance matters (and when to ignore it), and
- How to avoid cutting the wrong part of the print 5 times in a row.
Class will also include a discussion on fabric selection, favourite tools, and supplies to set you up for success. Students should be comfortable with their sewing machines, as they will practice these techniques using their own fabrics to make 6 show-stopping blocks.
Retro Tetro Quilt (full day – 6 hours)
Learn to make this bright, modern quilt in your choice of 4 sizes. You will learn:
- How to make all 5 blocks quickly, accurately, and with minimal waste.
- How to square up blocks.
- How to match seams for perfect points without using pins.
- How to assemble background strips.
Class will also include a discussion on fabric preparation to avoid distortion on the bias, favourite tools, and supplies to set you up for success. Students should be comfortable with their sewing machines. By the end of class, they will have 2 columns assembled and have all the skills needed to finish the quilt top!
Orbital – Intro to Curved Piecing (half day – 3 hours or full day – 6 hours)
Learn to make this bold, modern quilt in your choice of project size, from Mini to King. You will learn:
- How to fine tune your 1/4″ seam allowance.
- How to set up your sewing machine for curved piecing.
- How to cut curves using templates and rulers.
- How to mark, pin, and glue baste curved pieces.
- How to work with small curves.
- How to assemble the Orbital quilt.
Class will also include a discussion on fabric preparation to avoid distortion on the bias, favourite tools, and supplies to set you up for success. Students should be comfortable with their sewing machines. By the end of class, they will have a good start on assembling, and have all the skills needed to finish the quilt top!
Crystalize – Intro to Foundation Paper Piecing (half day – 3 hours)
Learn to make this bold, colourful, modern quilt block using the Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) technique. You will learn:
- How to cut fabric for FPP with minimal waste.
- How to line up, pin, and sew accurately (the first time).
- How to assemble the foundation sections into blocks.
- How to match seams for perfect points.
- Tips for removing papers painlessly.
Class will also include a discussion on fabric selection, favourite tools, and supplies to set you up for success. Students should be comfortable with their sewing machines. By the end of class, they will have several block sections complete and assembled, and have all the skills needed to finish the quilt top in any size!
Octopus Tentacle Scarf (half day – 3 hours)
Sometimes you need a hug, and 2 arms just aren’t enough. With 8 arms to squeeze you, this scarf will chase away the blues and dry an ocean’s worth of tears! Learn to make this unique, attention-grabbing scarf in either jersey or fleece! You will learn:
- How to free motion quilt the tentacle suckers.
- How to quilt on knit fabrics.
- How to shape the tentacles.
- Reverse-applique technique.
- How to finish off the scarf.
Class will also include a discussion on favourite tools and supplies to set you up for success. Students should be comfortable with their sewing machines and have previous experience using a free motion quilting foot. By the end of class, they will be close to completing their scarf, and have all the skills needed to finish the project!
Trunk Show (1 hour)
Join me as I share my journey from first quilt to full time quilter.
As I show each quilt, I will share the story of its inspiration and my design process. You will hear how I plan my quilting, learn from my mistakes, and see how I’ve developed my own personal style as a designer.
Be prepared to laugh, ask questions, and shake your head in disbelief at the ridiculous pace of my brief but prolific quilting career so far!
