I’m so excited to share all the beautiful Orbital quilts that my pattern testers made! This modern curvy quilt pattern is so versatile, as you can see with the variety of looks here.
Here’s some of the feedback I got from my testers:
“The pattern is really quick to make and l love that about it.”
“Piecing is great, it’s a lot more enjoyable to sew and less intimidating than I’d anticipated.”
“Definitely would do this one again.”
First up is LaVerne‘s Lap size beauty. The lap size quilt has only 4 rings and finishes at 54″ square. She chose textural prints in shades of gold and salmon to surround the floral panel that she used in the center.
Although the quilt pattern calls for semi-circles to make make assembly easier, I love this simple adaptation that allows a single, fussy-cut center circle.
Lynett chose stunning solids for her lap size quilt top.
I love how these brilliant jewel tones play together where the pieced curves come together between rings!
The inspiration behind Meg‘s Throw size quilt was “Down the Rabbit Hole.” She used prints from the Alice in Wonderland themed Curiouser and Curiouser fabric collection from Tula Pink to create a dizzying effect of freefalling after the fussy cut rabbit in the center circle.
Bonus points for the brilliant Alice-themed quilts-in-the-wild photo shoot. Head to Meg’s Instagram post to see the full tea party. Adorable!
Would you want this bold quilt beauty on your bed? Jenn pared down the colour palette for her Queen size quilt and I’m fascinated by the way the colours pool together to give a very different effect!
Jenn’s hubby says it’s his favourite quilt that she has made so far, so she might be bumping it up to a king size quilt with some added borders! (The quilt pattern includes instructions for a king size quilt as well. Hindsight!)
Next up is this firey hot baby quilt made by Carolyn. These warm colors, combined with the gentle waves of the quilting, make me feel like I’m looking down into a volcano! At 42″ square, this is a great size quilt for tummy time, nap time, and story time for little ones.
I’d love to know which Orbital quilt is your favourite! The Orbital quilt pattern is available in my shop now! It also has a Mini size, Twin size, and King size option. I can’t wait to see what you’ll make with it!
